Mindset Monday: Seeing Is Believing 

Have you heard of the term "Seeing Is Believing?" I'm sure you have. Well that term applies to many things but when you apply it to health and fitness it takes on a whole new meaning. Believe it or not most people don't believe they can achieve a goal unless they see someone achieve it before them. 

This was true in the past and it is still true today. Take the 4 minute mile for example. Most people thought that it was impossible to break through the 4 minute mark on a mile run but once Roger Bannister did it in 1954 by running a mile in 3:59.4 seconds others went on to accomplish this once seemingly unattainable goal. 16 other runners in fact did it within 3 years of Roger. 

What changed in those 3 years? The simple answer to that question is the runners mindset. Once they saw Roger do it this goal became real and tangible. What goals do you have that people around you are accomplishing? Are you using their accomplishments as motivation? Better yet are you engaging them to find out what they are doing to reach their goals and how they approach them?

Bottom line we are all in this together. If we work with each other we can accomplish the seemingly impossible. All it takes is being around the right type of people with the right mindset to help give you the boost you need to do the things you never saw yourself doing alone.
